The Ministry announced the death of 11 people of different nationalities who were infected with the virus, and as a result of complications associated with other diseases. This brings the number of deaths in the country to 157.
Dr. Amna Al Shamsi, UAE Government spokesperson, gave an update on coronavirus measures and developments.
Dr. Al Shamsi said, “The UAE has had a daily recovery average of 155 cases since the beginning of May, rising from an average of 100 cases previously recorded.
Al Shamsi said, “The total number of recovered cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) has reached 3,359 with 206 cases fully recovered today after receiving treatment.
Al Shamsi also said, “30 of the new cases infected with COVID-19 belong to two families who broke social distancing and held a family gathering that got them infected. The infected cases include a 2-month-old infant and a number of elderly people.
Al Shamsi said, “We regret to announce that 11 people who tested positive for COVID-19 died due to complications. This brings the total death toll to 157. Our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.
“We urge the public to continue to practise social distancing and follow precautionary measures in place to protect themselves and their loved ones.” Dr Al Shamsi said, “As part of the efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the UAE Government announced that those aged under 12 and over 60 will not be allowed to enter shopping malls and retail stores.
“The currently infected cases of Covid-19 who are undergoing treatment is 12,222 cases.
