Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said the UAE has prioritised its relations with African nations during a meeting with Burkina Faso's president in Abu Dhabi.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces said the Emirates had made significant progress in its efforts to bolster ties across the vast continent.

Sheikh Mohamed and Roch Marc Christian Kabore, who has led Burkina Faso since 2015, witnessed the signing of two agreements aiming to forge closer links between the countries.

The first deal set out plans to combat tax evasion with the UAE also pledged to support and finance small and medium-sized businesses in Burkina Faso.

Sheikh Mohamed emphasised there is potential for further growth in the partnership with the West African country in areas such as the economy, investment and trade.

The meeting was also attended by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, under-secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, along with a delegation from Burkina Faso.
