The Dubai Police has recently recorded 297 cases of counterfeiting and forgery, with a market value of approximately Dhs2,570,253,778 during 2019, according to the Department of Combating Economic Crimes of the General Department of Criminal investigations.

Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jalaf, Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), stressed that Dubai Police, in cooperation with its partners, spares no effort to combat economic crimes involving counterfeiting of all kinds of products and goods. Through inspecting stores and capturing those who are involved in counterfeiting cases, Dubai Police managed to preserve the rights of trademarks’ owners and their intellectual property.

“More than eight specialised companies from international brands have praised the efforts of the Dubai Police in combating counterfeit products and preserve their intellectual property. These companies included Apple, Louis Vuitton, Richemont, Toyota, and Reckitt Benckiser,” Al Jalaf added.

Recently, the Dubai Police General Headquarters obtained BSi 13500:2013 Certification for delivering effective governance of organisational performance.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, praised the efforts undertaken by the General Department of Quality and Excellence and said that Dubai Police steadily marches toward governance its work and police performance in all of its sectors.

It comes in line with its strategic plan 2016-2021 that aims at guaranteeing community happiness, safe city, and innovation in resource management.

For his side, Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Quality and Excellence at the Dubai Police, noted that receiving this certificate increase the responsibilities of all member of the police to double down on their efforts in their respective job fields to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the performance.

Major General Al Marri received the award from the Group Commercial Director of BSi Harold Pradal, in the presence of Major General Dr. Al Obaidly and a number of senior officers.

Separately, the Dubai Criminal Court on Monday acquitted an Arab businessman and three Asians, while sentenced other two to one year in jail to be followed by deportation. This was after they had been charged with stealing a number of cars and exporting them abroad as spare parts.

According to the records, the convicts committed 10 thefts, the Court heard. The fugitive accused was the gang’s mastermind. He was providing the sixth accused (convict) with information about the targeted cars to steal, which usually committed after midnight.
