Liverpool goalkeeper and Brazil international Alisson Becker has talked about the 2019 Balon d’Or award, saying that Mohamed Salah could’ve won it.

The Reds recently qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup’s final after a late 2-1 victory against Monterrey on Wednesday.

As he was ranked seventh in the 2019 Ballon d’Or rankings, Alisson believes that Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, or Mohamed Salah could’ve claimed the award.

“I can name a minimum of five players who make a difference for their club and country,” Alisson said in a press conference.

“I could win it, Sadio [Mane] would deserve it, Virg [van Dijk] would deserve it, Mo [Salah] could win it.

“But Messi is from another planet and deserves it too. I’m a big fan of him. We have time in front of us whereas Messi is starting to finish his career.

“We have a long time to achieve it but it’s not the most important thing. We need to win titles for the club and national team. That is all I desire for my career,” he added.
