- Yasmine El Tohamy - Al Ahly forward Aliou Badji has expressed his delight after his side confirmed their place in the CAF Champions League final.

The Red Devils defeated Wydad Athletic 3-1 in the second leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals on Friday.

Marwan Mohsen opened the scoring before Hussein El-Shahat and Yasser Ibrahim added two more goals to confirm Al Ahly’s place in the final with a 5-1 win on aggregate after dominating both legs against Wydad.

Senegalese forward, Aliou Badji remained on Al Ahly’s bench for the full 90 minutes on Friday but the 23-year-old feels optimistic about the club’s qualification for the final.

“I think it is a good thing to reach the final because Al Ahly have not been able to achieve this in recent years,” Badji told the Al Ahly’s official website.

“We are all happy, as we are one team, and we very much want the fans to be able to attend the final match to encourage them to win the title.

“I was very happy to watch the game from the bench despite not playing much lately, and I am happy for the team’s victory. We are all here together and we are one team,” he added.

Al Ahly could come up against Zamalek to set up the first-ever Cairo derby in the CAF Champions League final.

Zamalek beat Raja Casablanca 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals and will play the return leg on Sunday, November 1st.
