Thank you for reading the news about Ferreira turns down Zamalek return, two options shortlisted and now with the details

- Yasmine El Tohamy - Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour has disclosed that veteran Portuguese manager Jesualdo Ferreira has said no to a return to the White Castle, stating that the club management is currently pondering two names within which one will become the new coach.

Former Zamalek boss Patrice Carteron shocked everyone when he decided to leave Zamalek before the end of the season and resign as head coach last Tuesday.

The Frenchman had guided Zamalek to the Egyptian Super Cup title as well as the CAF Super Cup in the same week back in February.

He also led Zamalek to the CAF Champions League semi-finals, which is set to take place in October, after overcoming Esperance Sportive de Tunis 3-2 on aggregate.

Zamalek president had announced that Sebastian Gross, Jesualdo Ferreira, Jaime Pacheco and Gabriel Calderon are the candidates to take over the coaching job. However, three options out of the four have already been discarded.

“Ferreira has not accepted to coach Zamalek. He spoke to us with utmost respect and informed us that his assistants are working in different countries now,” Mansour told Sada El Balad channel.

“He was our first option. The second option was Pacheco but he asked for an expensive salary. We are currently evaluating two names; Calderon and another Italian coach.”

The two options on the table for Zamalek now are former Saudi Arabia and Real Betis coach Gabriel Calderon current FC Sion manager Paolo Tramezzani, with the Whites’ board set to make a final decision in the coming hours.

Zamalek currently occupy the second place in the Egyptian Premier League table with 55 points in 28 games played.
