Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - Manchester City are back with the #SameGoals initiative and this year, youngsters in Abu Dhabi and have an opportunity to support the movement and participate in special football clinics.

The #SameGoals initiative, back for the third year, hopes to inspire the next generation of female footballers by giving limited edition footballs – provided by PUMA – to every girl who shares a video of her scoring or saving a goal.

To receive the free football, girls are required to post a video on Twitter, Instagram or TikTok which shows them scoring or saving a goal, along with the hashtag ‘SameGoals’. Manchester City are encouraging participants to come up with creative ways to showcase their skills.

Also, youngsters can join the campaign by taking part in football clinics in the UAE. These sessions, overseen by City Football coaches, are scheduled for Friday, February 7 from 8:30am to 10:30am at Brighton College in Dubai, and on Saturday, February 8 from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi for children aged six and over.

Talking about the #SameGoals campaign, Manchester City and England striker Ellen White said: “When I made the move here last summer, I could see immediately how much the club cares about encouraging youngsters to enjoy playing football.

“Having an opportunity like #SameGoals is something that I could have only dreamt of when I was younger and with an initiative like this, hopefully we’ll be able to make a difference and inspire as many youngsters as possible to achieve their dreams both on home soil and around the world.”

Gavin Makel, head of women’s football, added: “Everyone at Manchester City has been delighted with the success of the past two years of #SameGoals and we’re extremely excited with our plans for 2020.

“Our aim is to create a movement to get girls scoring goals. As a club, we are committed to doing all we can to help develop the next generation of female footballers and by hosting these global football clinics and festivals, we want to show girls around the world that they can realise their potential.”

Participants under the age of 13 will need the permission of their parent/legal guardian and submit their videos using their parent or legal guardian’s social media account. Videos can also be uploaded on mancity.com/samegoals. The deadline for #SameGoals entries is 11:59pm, Sunday 15, March 2020.
