Rapid Wien’s Senegalese forward Aliou Badji has signed his contracts with Egyptian giants Al Ahly as the Reds end their search for a foreign striker, KingFut can confirm.

The Egyptian Premier League leaders have been linked with a number of forwards as their manager Rene Weiler wanted to bolster his attacking options.

The club had reportedly tried for Luzern’s Blessing Eleke, Steaua Bucaresti’s Harlem Gnohere and CSKA Sofia’s Ali Sowe but without success.

KingFut had previously disclosed that Al Ahly have made Badji their priority as we approached the third week of the January transfer window.

And now KingFut can reveal, Badji has put-pen-to-paper on a long-term contract, which will make him Al Ahly’s second winter signing alongside Mahmoud Kahraba.

It’s expected that the Badji will arrive in Egypt in the upcoming few days for the official announcement.

The 22-year-old Senegal U20 international has managed to establish himself as a key player for Austria’s Rapid Vienna, scoring three goals in 16 games this season.

Badji has also played for Casa Sports in his home country, before moving to Sweden’s Djurgarden then to Rapid Wien.

He has been in Austria since February 2019, joining Rapid Vienna for a fee around €1,5M. He has overall scored nine goals in 34 games since then.

However, at Djurgardens, he had a better time, helping them win the Swedish Cup in 2018 and was the club’s top scorer at the U21 level.

On the international level, Badji represented the Senegal U21 national team at the 2017 AFCON and World Cup, losing the final of the first against Zambia.

Al Ahly will now have to lose one of their foreign players as they currently have five in their ranks.

It’s believed to be one of Walid Azaro or Geraldo to lose their spot in Al Ahly’s squad, especially with the latter having an official loan offer from Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien, according to some reports.
