The Argentinean completed his hattrick in the 81st minute. Mahrez capitalized on a defensive howler and released Aguero in a one-on-one situation that the striker converted cleverly past Orjan Nyland.

In the dying moment of the game, the Villans were awarded a penalty kick after Trezeguet was brought down inside the box by Ikay Gundogan. Anwar El-Ghazi finished from the spot to reduced the deficit, making it 6-1.

After the loss, the Villans sit 18th with 21 points and will face Brighton & Hove Albion on the 18th of January.
