Al Ahly historical boss Manuel Jose has praised current Red Devils head coach for the work he has delivered so far with the team this season and believes Al Ahly have a good chance in achieving the long-sought Champions League title.

The 73-year-old was one of the most successful managers in Egypt and Africa, after winning eight continental titles and six Egyptian Premier League trophies with the Red Devils.

He became the first non-African to win the 2006 CAF Coach of the Year award while managing a club, after Al Ahly went undefeated the whole 2005–06 season, as they won the league, Egypt Cup, Egypt Super Cup, the African Champions League, and the CAF Super Cup.

“I follow Al Ahly and I see that the team is doing well in the African championship as well as in the league. Al Ahly will win the Champions League if the final is played in Cairo,” Jose told ON Sport channel.

“Weiler is a great coach and and is delivering remarkable displays with Al Al Ahly. He can become a new version of Manuel Jose.”

Weiler was appointed by Al Ahly in August 2019. He played 16 official matches thus far with the team across all competitions, winning 15 and losing one.
