Ghana national team manager Kwesi Appiah has been sacked from his position as the Ghanaian FA decide to dissolve all of the national teams coaching staffs.

In a drastic decision, the Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) have decided to sack all of their national teams’ coaching staffs. Meaning that senior team coach, Kwesi Appiah, was relieved of his duties.

In their statement the GFA revealed that this decision is for all age groups as well as male and female national teams.

‘The Ghana Football Association  (GFA) has dissolved the technical  teams of all national teams with immediate effect,” the GFA announced on their website.

”The decision affects both male and female national teams.

”The GFA extends its appreciation to all coaches and members of the respective national teams for their contributions to our national teams and Ghana football,’ they added.

Appiah was re-appointed as Black Stars manager back in 2017 to replace Avram Grant who quit as Ghana manager after his side was eliminated from the semi-final of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 59-year-old led Ghana through 20 games, winning nine, losing six and drew the remaining five. Despite his respectful record, his side’s performance were unconvincing especially when they faced strong sides.

Under his management, Ghana have had a disappointing 2019 AFCON where they barely made it out of their group before losing to Tunisia 5-6 on penalties.

Despite having won his last two games in charge against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, the former Khartoum FC manager was sacked along with all of the national teams coaching staffs.
