Al-Mouallimi: Saudi Arabia is one of the first countries that came...

The representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Mouallimi, affirmed that the Kingdom stands by the Lebanese people in their crisis, especially after the tragic explosion that shook part of Beirut last August, expressing deep sadness over the severity of the damage and loss of life caused by this explosion.
This came in the Kingdom’s speech, during the meeting of the Regional Office of the Arab Countries of the United Nations Development Program with the permanent representatives of the Arab Group on Lebanon delivered by the permanent representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Mouallimi, according to SPA.
At the beginning of the speech, he said: It is a pleasure for me to be with you today to discuss the measures taken to deal with the crisis in Lebanon, as Lebanon is an important member within the Arab nation, and Lebanon has a special place in the heart of the Saudi people.
He renewed support for the Lebanese people in facing the challenges that were exacerbated by the explosion and the negative effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He added: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the first countries that came to help the Lebanese people after the tragic and catastrophic explosion, as the Kingdom sent humanitarian and relief aid to Lebanon, after the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz directed to send urgent humanitarian aid, and he also ordered the extension of a bridge Joy, under the supervision of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, to provide the necessary aid to the Lebanese people.

Ambassador Al-Muallami stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia immediately sent four planes to Beirut carrying a total of 290 tons of medical equipment, food and construction equipment, in addition to the humanitarian and relief efforts undertaken by the King Salman Center in Beirut, where food baskets were distributed to the victims and their families. He indicated that the center has provided medical supplies, equipment, medicines and shelter facilities to many hospitals in Lebanon, and the Kingdom has recently equipped a dialysis center at the Makassed Hospital in Beirut.
And he added: The grave crisis that Lebanon suffers from is not just a humanitarian crisis, it may not be a political crisis. Lebanon is a country that possesses all the capabilities that qualify it to be a stable and advanced country, but what Lebanon has reached in terms of sadness is the result of the domination of some paramilitary organizations operating outside the authorities. The government, which is being directed by outside powers, aims to use Lebanon as a pawn in its plans and plots.
He pointed out that the Kingdom has been a strong supporter of Lebanon for decades, stressing that Lebanon today is in dire need of political and economic reform to protect its independence and ensure its stability and growth of its economy. Therefore, it is imperative that there be an honest national government that works in the interest and prosperity of the Lebanese people.
He went on to say: We appreciate the efforts of the United Nations to stand by the Lebanese people at this difficult time, and we also value the efforts of the international community in providing basic humanitarian aid to the Lebanese people and helping them restore hope for prosperity and development.
In conclusion, he said: There are three parties to the equation when it comes to the prosperity and stability of Lebanon (international support, specifically support for Arab countries, so the presence of Arab delegates in this meeting today is a clear testament to the willingness and desire of Arab countries to support and help Lebanon, and the efforts of the United Nations organizations. The example of the United Nations Development Program is very important, and we need to see more coordination and cooperation between the various UN agencies to support Lebanon, and the Lebanese people need unity, steadfastness, will, and to show the world the extent of their desire to move forward and with complete independence to overcome the challenges that await them).
