Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and President of the World Government Summit Foundation, approved the appointment of Mohammed Yousef Al Sharhan as Deputy Director of the Foundation, in a step that embodies the directions of the UAE leadership to empower young national competencies, enhance its role in leading the process of foreseeing and creating the future, and confirms the pioneering and knowledgeable role of the World Government Summit. Al Sharhan’s work tasks in his new position include strengthening the World Government Summit’s partnerships with international institutions, organizations and research centers, supervising the organization of events, conferences and knowledge sessions, and preparing and developing work plans for the coming period.
Mohammed Al Sharhan holds a master’s degree in systems engineering and management under the joint program of the Masdar Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in leadership and innovation from Rochester Institute of Technology in the United States of America, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with distinction from the American University of Sharjah.
Prior to moving to the World Government Summit Foundation, Al Sharhan worked as a project manager at the Dubai Future Foundation and contributed to the management, launch and development of several notable initiatives and projects, including the World Championships for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence “First Global” in Dubai in 2019, and the “Dubai 10X” initiative, CEO Summit, and others. He also served as a member of the Ras Al Khaimah Youth Council between 2016 and 2018, after working as an engineer specialized in sustainable transport at the Ministry of Interior, and as a researcher at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in the field of transport and sustainable development.
It is noteworthy that Al Sharhan is a graduate of the Emirates Experts Program, launched by His Highness Sheikh Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and was among the graduates of the first batch of the International Mandate Program for Emirati Leadership of the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development in 2019.
