                14 jihadists, including six leaders, were killed in an American army airstrike, according to a death toll census announced by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, while the US Central Command stated that the raid “targeted a group of senior Al-Qaeda officials in Syria, who were gathered near Idlib,” northwestern Syria .

The US Central Command (Sentcom) said in a statement that “the American forces launched a strike targeting a group of senior Al-Qaeda officials in Syria, who were meeting near Idlib.”

“Eliminating these leaders of al-Qaeda in Syria will reduce the terrorist organization’s ability to plan and carry out attacks that threaten American citizens, our partners and innocent civilians,” she added.

The director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdel-Rahman, based in Britain, said that the bombing was carried out by a drone, targeting a dinner in the village of Jakara in the Salqin countryside near the Syrian-Turkish border, killing 14 jihadists, including six leaders.

He added that “among the dead were five jihadists of a nationality other than Syria,” he did not immediately specify, noting that three of the dead belonged to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, “including two leaders of the first row.”

According to the Observatory, the raid targeted “a meeting that included leaders from the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al-Sham and other jihadists on a farm in the village of Jakara.”

For its part, “Ibaa Network”, speaking on behalf of the Headquarters for the Liberation of Al-Sham, said that “an air strike by drones targeted a tent belonging to one of the dignitaries in the town of Jakkara in the western countryside of Idlib,” which caused deaths and injuries, the number of which was not specified.
