During the month of October 2020, Mars will appear as a very bright star with the naked eye in the evening sky and in the western horizon in the dawn sky. Mars will be located at the closest distance from the earth on the 6th of October, as it will notice that its apparent disk size increased when observed through the telescope, and it will reach 22.6 seconds. It will have a maximum luminosity of -2.6, and after a week of that it will reach the contrast.
In general, during the period from October 1 to 30, 2020, the luminosity of Mars will exceed the brightness of Jupiter as the fourth brightest celestial body after the sun, moon and Venus, respectively.
The reason for the great change in the brightness of Mars, where we see it sometimes faint and bright at other times compared to Jupiter, which remains almost constant, because the change in the distance between Earth and Mars is large, while the percentage change in the distance between Earth and Jupiter is somewhat small.
On the other hand, limited areas in South America will witness the moon moving in front of Mars and blocking it temporarily in a phenomenon called (occultation) which is not seen in the Arab world.
