Thank you for your reading and interest in the news Four stabbed outside former offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris and now with details
Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - Four people have been stabbed and one suspect has been arrested after a knife attack outside the former offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris.
Officers cordoned off the area in eastern Paris and people were told to stay indoors after a suspicious package was found but no explosives were inside.
Two suspects were on the run and police said one assailant was in custody.
The former headquarters of the satirical magazine were the scene of a terrorist attack in 2015 in which two brothers, Said and Cherif Kouachi, shot 12 people dead and injured 11 others.
The motive for the attack is unclear and it is not known whether it is linked to Charlie Hebdo.
However, it comes amid the trial of 14 people who are suspected of helping the Kouachi brothers carry out the shootings.
Defiant as ever, the magazine republished cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed at the start of the trial.
Staff, who now work at a secret location, received death threats after it hit the stands.
While the edition sold out in France, it provoked condemnation from several Muslim countries and Al Qaeda militants reportedly threatened a repeat of the 2015 massacre of its staff.
More than 100 French news outlets called on people to support the magazine amid the threats.
Police did not release the identities of the attackers or the wounded, including two people in “absolutely urgent” condition.
Prime minister Jean Castex cut short a visit to a suburb north of Paris to head to the Interior Ministry to follow developments.
He said: "A serious event has taken place in Paris.
"Four people have been wounded and it seems that two are in a serious condition."
Audible gasps were heard at the terrorism trial currently under way as news of the attack filtered through.
The widows of the Charlie Hebdo attackers are scheduled to testify this afternoon.
