A heartbreaking video has emerged of a young contestant at a talent show learning of her mother's death live on air.

According to the Daily Mail, ,Jannah, 14, appeared on the Indonesian TV show Liga Dangdut in the hope of winning the Dh 133,000 cash prize to pay for her mother's diabetes treatment.
 
The young girl found out about her mother's passing after she wowed the judges with her performance- moving on to the next round- and called her mother to tell her the good news.
 
"Jannah, your mother said be strong as you will need to take care of the family now," said her uncle Pak Mus, who answered the phone to tell her that her mother had died just moments ago.


 
The video shows the girl crying as she receives the news, while the judges rally around her and tear up as well.
 
The clip, tweeted out by singer Azim Kamaruzzaman, has been viewed over 386,000 times.
 
The show Liga Dangdut is a competition to find Indonesia's best singer of the folk genre dangdut. The prize money is Dh 134,000, Dh 80,000 and Dh 53,000 for the first, second and third place winners respectively.
