The technology that will prevent minors from accessing a shared scooter?

The Cooperative Scooter Company wind Has announced the implementation of face recognition technology that will allow a match between the identity of the rider and the identity of the driver’s license holder – this, in order to prevent minors from renting the entire dangerous vehicle and thus reduce the number of accidents in which he is involved.

Wind’s move comes in the wake of an appeal by the National Road Safety Authority to cooperative scooter companies, which required them to take measures in favor of the matter. Two such measures have already been installed in the service’s app: one function restricts the ability to open the scooter lock from a maximum distance of 50 meters only to prevent the scooter from being opened via another account, and another function locks scooters left open by previous users after 10 minutes of lack activity.

From now on, every user of the Wind scooter will be required to scan his driver’s license when registering for the app as well as take a photo of his face and submit in order to match the facial features to the image in the license. After 20 minutes the system will confirm the user (instead of 48 hours, as it has been so far), unless a matching problem is found between the images. In such a situation, the procedure will go through manual approval.
